Abstract
The combination of Non-Evaporable Getter (NEG) material with sputter-ion pumps allows the design of a highly compact and reliable uhv-pump with remarkable high pumping speed for active gases. A unique heater concept for the activation of the NEG material overcomes the known problems with this type of combination pump, namely long activation time or high current handling within the pump.
