Abstract

Background. In patients affected by cystic fibrosis (CF), when an end-stage liver disease is associated with a severe lung disease, sequential bilateral single lung-liver transplantation (SBSL-LTx) may be the option of choice because these patients would not be expected to survive transplantation of either organ alone. A very few cases have been reported; all of them were performed with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
