Abstract

In this paper, a new decision-feedback differential detection (DF-DD) scheme is proposed, which can significantly reduce the irreducible BER due to the Doppler spread by using an adaptive linear prediction combined with a maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity technique. The combined adaptive DF-DD and MRC diversity can produce a performance gain as compared to a conventional DF-DD with MRC diversity. Furthermore, this paper proposes a new application in a soft-decision decoding which overcomes the limitation that DF-DD could be used only in a hard-decision based system.
