Abstract

A staining method for glycol methacrylate embedded tissue sections utilizing microwave radiation is reported. Following the Bodian silver stain, tissue sections were exposed to resorcin-fuchsin and picro-Sirius red F3BA techniques. Microwaving reduced staining time from 20 to less than 6 hours. Neurofibril and nerve fibers stained purple-black, elastic fibers were blue-black to black and collagenous connective tissue was red. Cytoplasm, in general, stained graygreen.
