Abstract

Combined influence of quantum fluctuations and spatial inhomogeneity on the mode dynamics of multimode lasers and the sensitivity of intracavity spectroscopy has been analyzed. It has been shown that this influence might be essential for laser pulses as long as 1 ms. The sensitivity of intracavity spectroscopy saturates after the same duration of laser emission.
