Abstract

The cam roller bearing (CRB) is widely used in the cam mechanism of various machinery due to its low friction loss under heavy loads. Such high loads easily cause flexible deformation and free tilting of the outer ring, thereby affecting the contact characteristic and fatigue life. For that, an innovative quasi-static model considering the flexible deformation and free tilting of the outer ring is established to calculate the load distribution of CRBs. Based on the model, the combined influence mechanism of the flexible free outer ring is revealed. Finally, a loading experiment of the CRB is conducted to investigate the contact characteristic of the CRB and validate the proposed model, which demonstrates the necessity of considering the flexible free outer ring in modeling the heavy-load CRB.
