Abstract

Idiopathic genu valgum is a common condition occurring in adolescence leading to disability. The treatment of choice after skeletal maturity for a minimal deformity is high tibial osteotomy and that for a severe form is distal femoral osteotomy. Combined osteotomy has to be considered when the deformity component is present on both femur and tibia contributing to the genu valgum. We here by describe a single stage combined high tibial closed wedge and distal femoral open wedge osteotomy for severe idiopathic genu valgum.
