Abstract
It is shown that Polyakov's string theory and Witten's open bosonic string field theory give the same vacuum amplitudes with correct combinatorial factors in arbitrary order of perturbation expansion. The proof is based on the fact that the symmetry factor of mapping class group and the combinatorial factor of string Feynman diagram are equal. Extension to the on-shell amplitudes is also discussed.
