Abstract

Combinations of the sum rules have been derived from the fourth-order Hamiltonian for molecules of orthorhombic symmetry. These may be used to determine some rotational constants directly from experimental data. The effects of higher order terms in the Hamiltonian are considered for H 2 16O.
