Abstract

Objective: To determine the effect of the T2 Fast Spin Echo Fat Saturation (T2 FSE FAT SAT) sequence and T2 Multiple Echo Data Imaging Combination (T2 MEDIC) sequence on ankle images MRI. Methodology: The sequence variations were T2 FSE FAT SAT and T2 MEDIC. The effect of the sequence on the quality of the MRI ankle image was analyzed on the image of one patient and the sound intensity value through a sound level meter. Result: Data analysis was carried out quantitatively with the Region of Interest (ROI) method directly on the computer image of the MRI, then SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) and CNR (Contras to Noise Ratio) analysis were carried out, and PSNR and MSE analysis was carried out through digital image processing to determine the value magnitudes. The highest SNR and CNR were found in the T2 MEDIC sequence. The lowest acoustic noise value is in the T2 MEDIC sequence. The differences in the physical mechanism of image formation are T2 FSE FAT SAT refocusing 180º RF and T2 MEDIC refocusing gradient fields. Conclusion: Because the SNR and CNR on T2 MEDIC are higher and the value of the sound intensity level is low, it can be said that the sequence provides optimal results and low acoustic noise.
