Abstract

In this study, visible-light-sensitive Ag/AgCl@ZIF-8 catalysts were prepared by one-pot reactions combined with photo-reduction processes. The photocatalysts were tested by XRD, SEM, HRTEM, UV-DRS, XPS. It can be observed that the 2-methylimidazole zinc salt(ZIF-8)exhibited the rhombic dodecahedron morphology with Ag/AgCl or AgCl nanoparticle evenly distributed around it. The composite photocatalyst Ag/AgCl@ZIF-8 sample showed excellent photocatalytic antibacterial performance. Under the condition of illumination for 90 min, the composite material can inactivate almost all P. aeruginosaudomonas aeruginosa (P.aeruginosa), Escherichia coli(E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Moreover, the Ag/AgCl@ZIF-8 photocatalyst had excellent stability and reusability in the cyclic degradation experiment. The possible photocatalysis principle was given on the basic of ROS quenching experiment and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) tests, demonstrating that the·O2﹣ and h+ were the main active substance. This result provides a new way for the development of MOF-based composites for antibacterial applications.
