Abstract

Energy detectors (ED) and transmitted reference (TR) systems are known as promising candidates for noncoherent UWB receivers. One of the challenging issues in TR systems is the implementation of the delay line applied in TR receiver architecture. In order to tackle this problem, code orthogonolized transmitted reference (COTR) has been proposed in the papers in which the orthogonality of data and reference pulses is in the code domain instead of that of time. In this paper, a new scheme based on combination of COTR and ED is proposed in which not only the need for implementation of delay line in TR systems is eliminated but also required energy per bit is reduced.
