Abstract

• A colovesical fistula is an abnormal connection between the sigmoid colon and the urinary bladder usually caused by diverticulitis. • Any patient with pneumaturia should be assumed to have a colovesical fistula until proved otherwise. • CT scanning of the abdomen and pelvis is the most sensitive and specific means of diagnosing a colovesical fistula. • Most colovesical fistulas can be successfully treated surgically, often using laparoscopic techniques.
