Abstract

An interesting place to start a consideration of the significance of colour in Lawrence’s paintings is the picture entitled Close-Up (Kiss). The two main commentators of Lawrence’s artwork, Robert Millett and Keith Sagar, both feel that the picture is decidedly satirical.
