Abstract

This volume contains papers extended from works presented in the 6th Asian Symposium on Visualization (ASV6) held at BEXCO (Busan Exhibition and Convention Center), Korea from May 27 to 31, 2001. BEXCO was a magnificent building of a unique and beautiful shape as shown below. ASV6 was the first big international conference which took place in this brand new convention center. The symposium was organized by the executive committee chaired by Professor T-H Chang (Kyungnam University) and Professor K-S Chang (KAIST). Total participants were 183 and 145 papers on various research fields on visualization techniques were presented in this symposium. The details of the conference are described in the report written by Professor Chang in this volume. The symposium was excellently organized by the efforts of the local executive committee. All participants enjoyed not only science but also Korean culture through various attractions provided by the organizing committee. Papers suitable for publication were selected by chairpersons of all sessions. Part of these papers are to be published in the International Journal of KSME, while papers which were extended from these papers suitable for full-color printing are published in this volume. I deeply appreciate cooperation of all authors who submitted their papers to this journal. I also thank Professor K.C. Kim, editor of the International Journal of KSME, for his kind cooperation in the process of collecting papers. My gratitude extends to the chairpersons of all sessions who recommended some papers out of large number of presentations in each session.
