The authors examine their findings according to the time of implementation of national screening programmes in this time period (early vs late), or as compared with countries with no large-scale screening programmes. The authors should be commended for establishing a large European research collaboration, thereby providing a unique opportunity to uncover important findings on various aspects of colorectal cancer screening.
