Abstract

Color-octet contributions to associated $J/\ensuremath{\psi}+\ensuremath{\gamma}$ hadroproduction are studied in detail, and found to be negligible, compared to the ordinary color-singlet contribution. Within the color-singlet model $J/\ensuremath{\psi}+\ensuremath{\gamma}$ production in leading order is possible only through the gluon-gluon fusion process. Therefore, associate $J/\ensuremath{\psi}+\ensuremath{\gamma}$ hadroproduction remains useful as a clean channel to probe the gluon distribution inside the proton, to study the heavy quarkonia production mechanism, and to find the proton's spin structure.
