Abstract

A color anodizing technique has been developed to study the size, distribution, and morphology of basal-oriented grains in Ti:6Al-4V. Pole figures, Kossel diffraction, polarized light, and other techniques have been used to confirm that grains anodizing yellow are indeed basal-oriented. In conjunction with pole figures, color anodizing is a very useful means for studing textural variations.
