Abstract

Oehme and Zimmermann!) have studied the structure of the gluon propagator in the Landau gauge using renormalization-group techniques in combination with the analytic properties which follow from the Lorentz invariance and spectrum condi­ tions. They have found that the absorptive part of the gluon propagator satisfies a superconvergence relation when the number of quark flavors does not exceed nine. In the present article, we shall show that this superconvergence relation is consistent with various interpretations of color confinement. The transverse gluon propagator is defined by
