Abstract

Purpose: Studies in nonhuman primates indicate that monocular visual deprivation starting at different ages has different effects on the parvocellular and magnocellular pathways. The present study has used color and luminance contrast sensitivity (CS) measurements to examine this question in human strabismic amblyopes. Methods: Contrast sensitivity was measured to a 3.2-cpd red-green isoluminant grating with a slow onset ramp and an achromatic 0.8-cpd grating with rapid onset ramp using a staircase method.
