Abstract

Penetrating gunshot wounds to the abdomen are becoming more frequent in the United Kingdom. On rare occasions, injuries to intraabdominal viscera can occur without breach of the peritoneal cavity. The authors report a case of colonic perforation occurring secondary to a low-velocity gunshot wound to the abdomen, the path of which remained extraperitoneal.
