Abstract

An 80-year-old healthy and immunocompetent man (negative for human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and tuberculosis) without previous intra-abdominal surgery, presented with periodic lower left quadrant pain, fever, night sweats, and C-reactive protein of 40 mg/L. Full body computed tomography revealed a tumor in the right colonic flexure (Figure A, arrow); edema and reactive adipose tissue in sigmoid colon; reactive lymph nodes throughout the mesentery; and without any signs of metastasis, other neoplasia, or diverticulitis.
