Abstract

An occurrence and subsequent transformation of « the concept of rapid return» among Ukrainian military and civilian emigrants, concentrated mainly in Poland, Romania and Slovakia, has become a causal phenomenon. At the same time, it was perceived by a special political approach or communicative mode, that was designed to answer a socially generalized question from the environment of emigrants - according to further prospects of being in a mentally foreign country for several years - but what to do next, where, in what direction to move? The present array of available archival materials, published personalized memoirs, further publications of domestic researchers of the period of Ukrainian independence do not give monosemantic evaluative judgments about the «concept of rapid return. That is why, based on available materials, it seemed that «the concept of rapid return» did not pass the test due to the failure of the Second Winter Campaign (1921). Thus, in the circles of military emigration, some heads of interned military units showed their own initiative on the issue of further soldiers being on foreign territory. The activity of colonel Hnat Porokhivskyi (1888-1952) is perceived as a vivid and convincing example of resolving the question of the fate of Ukrainian soldiers in Romania. During the being of Ukrainian soldiers in Romania, he did a number of steps to create conditions for their livelihood. Therefore, colonel Hnat Porokhivskyi took the practical steps of the period of internment and emigration of Ukrainian soldiers to Romanian territory, which we perceived as a denial of «the concept of rapid return.»
