Abstract
Colon cancer is one of the most common types of cancer with the mortality rate of up to 9.4%. Late diagnosis and occurrence of life-threatening complications greatly entangle surgical intervention in this area. Anatomical complexity and tendency to lymphogenous dissemination impose high demands on the standards of surgeries. Currently, two concepts of the implementation of surgical interventions for colon cancer, described in the literature as “German” and “Japanese” standards, dominate. Both directions have their advantages and comparable results of surgery. The purpose of this article is to highlight the problem of surgical treatment of colon cancer, taking into account the established modern standards.
