Abstract
Adam S. Horowitz offers a travelogue of Colombia's cities and rural towns, surveying the social dynamics of spectatorship for a wide range of Colombian performances. He takes a night walk through the streets of Bogotá, attends a protest performance led by a venerated theater collective, explores two national festivals, and travels to rural villages where theater is created amidst the residents. Horowitz considers the relationships of Colombian spectators to the performances they attend, and the relationships of street and outdoor performances to urban geographies and politics.
