Abstract
A collocation-$H^{ - 1} $-Galerkin procedure is introduced and analyzed for a one space dimensional parabolic partial differential equation. Special attention is devoted to the behavior of the error due to the time dependent nature of the coefficients. Global error estimates are derived.
