Abstract

R2Ni2In (R = Er, Tm) which crystalizes in the orthorhombic structure of the Mn2AlB2-type was investigated by powder neutron diffractometry. At low temperatures the rare earth magnetic moments form an antiferromagnetic structure related to the propagation vector k→=[12,0,12]. The magnetic moments are parallel to the b-axis and equal to 7.71(7) μB and 5.76(4) μB for Er and Tm, respectively. In order to verify validity of obtained magnetic structure model a symmetry analysis was performed.
