Abstract

Collematospora is described as a new genus of the Trichosphaeriaceae. It is characterized by having dark setaceous ascocarps, cylindrical and persistent asci provided with distinct apical rings, and light-colored ascospores, which normally are fused vertically in groups of two to four and are enclosed by a pinkish to light yellowish brown, dextrinoid, membrane-like structure. A single species, C. venezuelensis sp. nov., is described and photographed from horse dung collected in Venezuela.
