College-English-Teaching Reform Under the Perspective of General Education

Abstract

Not just a language foundation course, college English is one of the important platforms for students to broaden their knowledge and become internationalized high-quality personnel with creative and global perspective and the capability of involving in international affairs and competitions. In a sense, college English courses are the best media for general education. This paper mainly concerns the ideas and practices of college English course reform from the perspective of general education, aiming to shed some enlightenment on the creative personnel training under the background of internationalization. What’s new in this paper is that we state college English teaching may combine with general education in China under the subject-centered method. In other words, with English as the teaching language, the activities are carried out according to the course contents of the general education to be learned.
