Abstract
No new targets and a focus on quality of care were the two main messages coming from Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review final report, published at the end of June to coincide with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the NHS. The review provides a vision for the new foundations for the health service of empowered staff and patient choice but with little detail on the delivery frame work. This vision is the star t of the next stage of NHS reform for the coming ten years.
