Abstract

A review of the descriptive accounts of the position of women deans in higher education contributes to an understanding of the changes and problems in the office presently. Publications and research for the extent of the office (1890–1966) were analyzed and synthesized for the purpose of tracing developments and recognizing the alterations of the roles and responsibilities of the college dean of women in this country.
