Abstract

As President of the College Art Association, I wish to pass to the Association membership a few notes about steps taken at the New York Annual Meeting as well as some comments concerning the future activities of our organization. The past year has been successful with an increased membership and wider range of activities. The 701 persons registered at the New York meeting (representing 195 colleges, universities, and art schools, and 45 museums) was 34% higher than that of the previous year. Faith in the future was expressed by a unanimous vote at the Annual Business Meeting setting the yearly membership fee at $12 instead of the $10 fee which has prevailed for the last 25 years. This was necessary to face generally higher costs in all phases of the Association's activities and to make action possible on the greater obligations the Association must assume if it is to function in accord with its potential.
