Abstract
The collective coupling of neutrinos and anti-neutrinos in a degenerate dense plasma is considered. Such a coupling is provided by the existence of electron plasma waves, or plasmons. The electron plasma waves can decay into neutrino anti-neutrino pairs, and the collective decay rate is established, and shown to be dominant over the single particle decay rates characteristic of the usual Urca process.
