Abstract

We consider the effect of variations in film thickness on plasmons propagating in finite superlattices. We present a brief theoretical discussion valid for structures composed of random-layered media. Although an explicit dispersion relation is not derived, we present numerical examples which demonstrate the effect of varying the thickness of a single film. For the geometry we consider, the collective plasmon excitations are nearly insensitive to random perturbations in thickness.
