Abstract

The dynamics of one-dimensional arrays (mesostacks) of intrinsic Josephson junctions in high- ${T}_{c}$ superconductors is theoretically investigated with both the quasineutrality breakdown effect and the quasiparticle charge imbalance effect taken into account. The current-voltage characteristics are obtained at various parameters and their peculiarities are discussed. The results of recent experiments on the intrinsic Josephson effect in high- ${T}_{c}$ superconductors are compared with the presented theory. Nonequilibrium effects inside superconducting layers are proposed to be the origin of the collective dynamics.
