Abstract
The common thinking or ideologies or conceptions of any given society is generally deep-rooted. This is what we refer to as the 'collective consciousness', which has got the power to change the face of a nation also when needed. However, it undergoes cosmetic changes as the society progresses. In the process some times, small groups of 'influences' try to dominate the minds of large sections of society and make them loose identities and start thinking like a herd. These groups use this phenomenon for narrow personal advantages. If the society realizes this, they can methodically retrieve back their thinking from the clutches of such small groups.The factors that cause the void in the collective consciousness are identified and some steps are prescribed to overcome the same and thereby retain the diversity of thoughts which is essential for the growth of a nation or a society.
