Abstract
The species composition of the collection of rare, endemic and relict plants of various categories of rarity of the Department of Flora of Samara University is analyzed. The spectrum of rare plants cultivated in the botanical garden and other thematic areas of open ground is summarized and presented. The collection includes more than 1100 species from 61 families and 248 genera. Many species are listed in the regional Red Books and lists of rare plants. In the collection, 51 species are included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation, 73 - from the Red Book of the Samara region. Protected species account for almost 40 % of the number of species represented in the collection. All plants are of natural origin, some species have two or more geographical samples.
