Abstract

In February, 2008, a 27-year-old man attended a martial arts class. Jogging gently, during the warm-up, he collapsed. Witnesses observed no movements typical of epilepsy. The patient recovered within 2 min, and walked to our emergency department. General examination showed nothing of note. Electrocardiography revealed T-wave inversion in the lateral leads, but no other abnormalities. Blood tests, including a 12-h troponin test, gave normal results. The assessing doctor suspected cardiac arrhythmia, and admitted the patient overnight for observation.
