Abstract

This concise, neatly conceptualized book by two acknowledged experts in collagen biochemistry and immunochemistry presents current views of collagen biochemistry and metabolism, as well as alterations in these factors, in inheritable and acquired diseases of connective tissue. As the authors intended, the use of numerous diagrams and illustrations throughout the text considerably facilitates an understanding of the various topics under discussion. These diagrams are extremely clear and easily understood and the reader should be able to glean many of the essentials of collagen biochemistry simply by reading the charts. In addition, the photomicrographs are of the highest quality and contribute substantially to the text, which is concise and well written. Indeed, the chapters on the biochemistry and immunochemistry of collagen are superb in their presentation of the essential features of the work that has been done in these areas.
