Abstract

The collagen content of human trabecular bone and its extractability were assessed and related to age, sex and degree of porosity. No difference was found for these three parameters in the quantitative estimation of organic matrix and collagen or in the collagen/organic matrix ratio. For both sexes, the net amount of collagen extracted with various solutions fell as age and porosity increased.
