Abstract

This study was aimed to formulate a collaborative-based mangrove ecosystem management model for the development of marine ecotourism in Lembar village, West Lombok. The research method employed was Rapid Appraisal for fisheries on the ecological, social, economic and institutional dimensions. The data of this research were analyzed by employing Multidimensional Scaling, Monte Carlo, Leverage, and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The analysis results revealed that the sustainability index of mangrove ecosystem management was categorized “less sustainable.” Meanwhile, the ecological dimension was categorized “moderately sustainable.” The other results indicated that the social, economic, and institutional dimensions were categorized “unsustainable.” Furthermore, AHP result on each sensitive indicator revealed that a sustainable mangrove ecosystem management model is based on collaborative institutional strengthening. Collaborative institutional strengthening can be carried out by increasing the commitment of villages and community to uphold the local wisdom value, and increasing the participation and capacity of individual community in managing the mangrove ecosystem area for ecotourism development.
