Abstract

Collaboration is a popular concept in architectural education today. The much heralded Boyer report of the Carnegie Foun dation for the Advancement of Teaching emphasized the im portance of a well-rounded education, or scholarly integra tion for architecture students.1 At Clemson University, collaboration has been hailed as an important concept and fac ulty are encouraged to work together to develop courses and programs of study that cross traditional lines in the curriculum. The University's College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities (AAH) held a symposium last spring to highlight the impor tance of the liberal arts in training architects for the future. The Preamble to the College's Guiding Principles establishes the importance of collaboration:
