Abstract

When students arrived back on campus in large numbers in fall 2021 at the University of Kentucky, it became apparent many of them were not aware of how their actions impacted accessibility for other students. Rather than chaining their bicycles to bike racks, some of them chained the bikes as close to the buildings as they could, which would block the door switch. And students using rental motorized scooters would leave them wherever they finished with them, blocking sidewalks and curb cuts, said David Beach, Ph.D., C.R.C., Director of the Disability Resource Center.
