Abstract

Colitis cystica profunda was diagnosed in an aged Pygmy goat involved in a long-term progesterone study. This condition was characterized by an extension of mucosal glandular epithelium into the submucosa. Mucin-containing cysts were often observed in the submucosal area. The lesion was considered non-neoplastic and must be differentiated from adenocarcinoma.
