Colgrevance’s Supposed Shame in Ywain and Gawain

Abstract

In this article, I argue that, unlike his French counterpart Calogrenant, the Middle English Colgrevance is not shamed at the well. Instead, he is successful in his endeavors to find marvels and to return to the Arthurian court to tell his tale.
