Abstract

We read with great interest the study of Kämäräinen et al.1 The authors investigated the effects of low temperature on single-use plastic medical equipment, and revealed loss of mechanical properties such as elasticity or connectivity during an outdoors stress-test with 15min exposure to −21.5°C. We do not totally agree with the authors when they stated in the introduction section of the article that there are no previous reports on the performance of medical equipment in cold conditions.
