Abstract

SynopsisCold resistance in very hardy falcateand hardy Ranger alfalfa developed faster and at higher levels at Palmer, Alaska, than at Madison, Wis. The level for nonhardy Arizona Common was very low at both locations. Trends of water‐soluble protein nitrogen appeared to follow those of cold resistance in Ranger and falcate. Arizona Common showed the highest level of total available carbohydrates at both locations; Ranger was intermediate, and falcate lowest.
