Abstract

The influence of the margin in cold finishing on the quality of the machined surface is considered. Formulas for the margin in terms of the chord at the tooth tips or the distance between centers are presented. The machining error is analyzed. It is found that the variation in the margin after roughing of the gear affects the stability of machining. Practical recommendations are presented for stabilization of the margin after roughing.
