Abstract
Colchicine is derived from the corms of Colchicum autumnale . The drug has been used therapeutically for more than 200 years in the treatment of various diseases such as Gout, Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), and Behcet's disease ; yet, its myotoxicity adverse reaction has not only been documented before 1996 in the British National Formulary. Colchicine induced myopathy has been described in patients with chronic renal failure and patients who are using a concomitant drug like a statin. However, pure myopathy caused by Colchicine never been reported from Saudi Arabia.
