Abstract

A fast electronic circuitry for recording coincident events in a paralle mode among simultaneously active channels with 64 NaI(Tl) detectors arranged in a circular geometry is described. The circuit can be easily modified for higher or lower number of detectors in any geometrical configuration. The detection system is used for recording positron annihilation photons (511 keV) in coincidence, originating from the site of accumulation of radionuclides within an object. The coincident data can then be reconstructed to provide a three-dimensional transverse axial distribution of the positron emitting activity.
